Just got myself a Vinfast, and I’m running into some issues trying to charge it with my Tesla home charger using a J1772 adapter. The circuit breaker keeps tripping after about 10-15 minutes of charging. Anyone else deal with this? Do you think it’s the adapter, the charger, or maybe something with my home's electrical setup? Any advice would be awesome!

Start by making sure the circuit is rated for the power draw of your VF. If your home’s electrical setup can’t handle the load; it may trip the breaker. Also, some adapters might not play nice or could add extra resistance, which could lead to overheating or tripping the breaker. If you can, maybe try swapping in a different J1772 adapter and see if that helps. Goodluck!

Note that the breaker rating, and sockets (EG the 50 in NEMA 14-50) are rated for peak/burst use, such as power tools used for a few mins.

For continuous use (heaters, EVs, etc) you are not supposed to go over 80% for long periods of time (EG the 50A peak circuit would support 0.8*50A = 40A continuous)

The feature that automatically negotiates maximum charge rate seems to be lost through the adapter. At least on the VF 9 there's a charge setting that allows you to set the maximum charging current. Make sure it is set to 80% of the breaker rating as our kind moderator notes.
