Hi everyone, I’ve been having trouble getting my VF8 to charge at the full 48 amps on my home charger, which is rated for 48 amps. No matter what I try, it seems to max out at 40 amps.

Has anyone else run into this issue? Could it be a setting in the car or the charger itself? I’ve double-checked the charger’s installation, and it seems fine.

One thing you might want to look into is whether your charger is fully compatible with the VF8. Even though it’s rated for 48 amps, there could be a handshake issue between the car and the charger. I had to update the firmware on my charger to get it to deliver the full 48 amps. Maybe check if your charger has a firmware update available?

When you're on the EV / charging screen, there IS a settings gear icon, where you can adjust amps.
If that screen is refusing to let you go higher, the charger may be trying to be "clever", EG if it knows it's on a NEMA 14-50, that's 50A peak but 40A continuous, or your installer set it to 40A for a 50A circuit.
If you appear to have tripped a breaker, it may knock itself down about 2A in case that works better next time - you can nudge it back up again in the settings if this was a false alarm though.
