I just discovered Volta charging stations and thought they were all paid like the others. Turns out, thanks to a fellow VF8 owner, they offer FREE charging, although with time limits! But hey! At least we get something free.

Apparently, businesses install them to attract customers, and Volta makes money from ads on the screens. Pretty cool! Just a heads up, though - I saw a screenshot of a fee-based Volta station, so double-check before plugging in. and Note: Plus a Sneaky Fee Tip. Anyone else using Volta?

Thanks @oopaloompa987! Volta makes money through a clever strategy. They offer free L2 charging stations, and the advertising they display there along with tax credits cover the cost and even turn a profit for them. That's why they were so popular. Are they still for free now? I heard they're not free anymore.

Volta stations are such a cool concept. I’ve used them a couple of times myself, and the time limit isn’t too bad if you’re just running errands or grabbing a quick bite. It’s great that they’ve figured out a way to fund it through ads. I think it’s a win-win for businesses trying to boost foot traffic and for us trying to save a little on charging!

I’ve been using Volta for a while now, and it’s awesome for quick top-offs. It’s super convenient, especially when you just need a little boost while you’re out running errands. I remember using Volta for the first time and totally didn’t realize it was free until after I finished charging.
