Hey everyone, I've been reading up on regenerative braking and its benefits. It seems like a really cool technology that can improve fuel economy and extend battery life in EVs.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on regenerative braking. Do you think it's a significant advantage for EVs and hybrids? Have you noticed a real difference in fuel economy or battery range?

Okay, so regen braking took me a minute to get used to. The first time I drove my VF8, it almost felt like I was “braking” without touching the pedal. 😂 But now, I’m a total convert. In stop-and-go city driving, it’s a lifesaver for both range and your actual brakes. I’ve already noticed I’m getting more mileage out of each charge compared to my first few drives. It’s an underrated benefit of EVs that really grows on you.

You were in fact braking without touching the pedal! It even does "The Right Thing" with the brake lights, believe it or not :D

... Well unless you had it turned off in the drive mode (fairly new setting, don't like it myself).

Note that even with it turned off, you still regen-brake when you press the actual brake pedal... Just not when you release the accelerator. Turn on the charge/discharge meter and it makes it look fairly obvious.

Yeah, I quickly got used to it, and now I love it. When I have the misfortune to drive an ICE vehicle, I always joke about "OMG, awful regen in this thing!" 🤣
