I read something interesting about Regenerative braking last week. Regenerative braking is such an interesting feature in modern cars. It uses the energy from the spinning wheels during braking to recharge the battery. You just lift your foot off the accelerator or press the brake pedal to activate it. While the concept has been around since the 1960s, it wasn’t widely used in passenger vehicles until the Prius in the 1990s. Now, it’s not only a key feature in EVs but also in motorsports, where systems like KERS make cars more efficient and faster. It’s fascinating how this technology enhances range and energy efficiency.

Regenerative braking truly is fascinating! It’s amazing how a concept from the 1960s became essential for EVs and motorsports, improving efficiency and extending range today.

Definitely! It's crazy how much the tech has evolved over time. In EVs, it’s so smooth, it’s like your driving and charging at the same time. Plus... it’s not just about the range either, it actually helps with brake wear too, which is pretty awesome.

Yup, I have chatted to owners at EV meets who occasionally need to CLEAN their actual disk brakes, cos they aren't getting any real use, but are getting a build-up of road salt, dirt, dust, even rust.

Exactly! It’s crazy to think how such an old concept has evolved and is now critical for both efficiency and performance in modern vehicles.

The smoothness of regenerative braking is such a game changer. It’s a nice bonus that it also reduces brake wear, such a smart design

That’s a great point....It’s interesting how less use of the traditional brakes can lead to buildup, but it’s still a good problem to have.
