Battery level a factor?!

Just heard the craziest rumor from some early reviewers of VF8.. Apparently, the acceleration on this bad boy is tied to the battery level?! Like, if your not at 100%. you ain’t getting the full zoom? Come on! I’ve been driving an EV for awhile, and I've never heard of something like that. Is this a joke or what?! Anyone else heard this?

I don't think that's true. My test drive experience has been great, without any problems. The car was bellow 75%.
I thought the same thing, but thats what I heard, so I’m wondering if there's something to it. If that's actually the case, it’d be so frustrating, who wants to feel like they’re driving a less powerful car just because their battery’s not topped up?

EVs are supposed to be all about that smooth, consistent power! Fingers crossed it’s just a rumor. Anyway, have you had a chance to test it out at different charge levels?

Anyone recommend a good accelerometer app? I'd love to "Science the 💩 out of this"

My best guess would be that performance does start to suffer but probably not noticeably until you are down to something like 10-15%... Might also impact regen if you are fully charged to 100% too, BTW... And I'd expect similar with most EVs, not only Vinfast ones...

... but I suspect normal driving, in the 20-90% range, probably fine. I certainly feel like I could challenge any ICE vehicle at the lights even at, like, 20% battery? 🤷‍♂️

I would have to say "it depends":

IF the motor(s) are underpowered then they can take full advantage of the slight uptick in power at 100% charge, then for that little bit (depends on how large the battery is) there will be extra oomph.

IF the motor(s) are overpowered meaning they can not take advantage of that little extra power then no change.

You can check lithium ion battery power charge/discharge curve to see...
